  • This morning I worked in the yard early before it got really hot and when I came back into the house, I forgot to close the screen door on the back porch, which keeps flying critters from getting in and not finding their way back out again. As I was putting the breakfast dishes in the sink, I noticed a large dragonfly on the porch, who was flying into the screens trying to get out. I didn't want to hurt her, so I couldn't use a towel to capture her like I do with birds who can't find their way out. So first I grabbed my camera and took a couple of pictures of her settled on the screen.

Then I went back in the house to get a bowl of water to set out on the steps so that Dragonfly might find her way out. She had moved and was fluttering against another screen with cobwebs, so I reached my hand out, brushed the cobwebs away and she jumped on my finger and wrapped her little 'hands' around it and I walked out the porch door and she flew off. What a gift!!

And her beautiful iridescent colors didn't show up in the picture.
