  • It's funny that there is no equivalent phrase in English for the French bon appetite -(good appetite), or the Spanish, buen provecho (may it provide you well). Perhaps it is because we do not take the time or opportunity to sit down for a meal as a family just to experience the food in the UK.

    I am making a beetroot soup with garlic, orange juice, shallots, sherry
    parsley, salt and pepper.

    I can only get raw beetroot in the summer here. It has such a beautiful colour and earthy smell. The soup looks sensational in a white bowl with a swirl of yoghurt or soya dream on top.
