  • It's not the best song, I know. Try to keep yourself from laughing out loud. But Ray Neighbor wrote a powerful poem-Blues on life, and Geoff Dutton posted a blues-fitting tune asking if someone would turn Ray's cool, powerful poem into a song. So, I jumped on it.

    I'm not the best singer, definitely, but to help a fellow cowbird, I would go to the extremes of embarrasing myself Nation-wide. Being creative to reply to a sad-hearted story writen by a somewhat sad-hearted (blue) cowbirder is one of the many things that makes us a community.

    And sooooo....Hang on to every one of Ray's Words!

    This Kinda Blue
    By Ray Neighbor (Rain)

    I've been feeling empty lately
    kinda out there all be myself
    need to get me a thicker coat
    put this old one back on the shelf
    i really need to go somewhere
    Maybe to the library
    maybe read a book
    find me a new friend...
    a different look

    too old for the road..
    not sure what to do
    think about her sometimes
    when it's this kinda blue

    nothing headed my way
    everyday seems the same
    nothing but joggers and bloggers
    no one knows my name
    all i got is a neklace from you
    sometimes i think the whole city
    feels this kinda blue

    it's just an empty feelin
    like this might be all i'll be
    some nameless,faceless,no-body
    living life aimlessly

    i don't see the wind changin
    not a whole lot left to do
    just sometimes wonder
    do you remember me, when it's
    this kinda blue

    sat at the corner booth
    of an old family diner
    the waitress that took my order
    reminded me a bit of you
    coffee and toast
    a false smile from the host
    a drop of rain
    does its lonely dance
    down a window pane
    i sit alone in a booth for two
    there's a sound to this kind of down
    a lonely melody
    to this kinda blue

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    And of course, I had to add: Oh yeahhh...
