  • So here is my first involuntary art piece, when I was age 9, perhaps. I was standing right under a lamp, a single bulb hanging from the ceiling, which is an approximation to what physicists would call a point source in the macroscopic world. The picture I recently drew is a rough recollection of the shadow I saw looking down and looking all around me. I was stark naked, and what I saw was a top-down projection of my profile.

    The funny thing is that the first time, later on, that I encountered the word Homunculus, I knew that had seen it long time before, standing shivering, but totally amazed, under that lamp.
