  • I was given this subject in a creative writing class.

    Five things true:

    1) I can find the root of a problem. Not a mathematical problem; but a problem that needs to be recognised in order to go forward as a group or a family.

    2) I have a very tidy, logical mind.

    3) I am naturally untidy with my belongings. I have to concentrate hard to keep my files in order and clothes hung up in my wardrobe. It helps to have a glass of wine so I don't panic whilst I am sorting things out.

    4) I can be warm and responsive

    5) I can be quiet and covert.

    Five things false:

    1) I am not a typical housewife. I do not like being labelled. I get angry when I get a consumer questionnaire and have to answer what newspapers I read and what I like to buy.

    2) I do not read the same newspaper every day.

    3) I do not like to dress according to my age. I wear what suits my body and usually in bright colours.

    4) Just because I have a vegan diet does not mean it is easy to keep slim. I am a foodaholic.

    5) I am not as healthy as I look. I have a hidden illness.

This exercise inspired at least four new stories for me.
