  • Patience and trusting the governing process is like Quilting. The slow yet meticulous thought that goes into cutting and piecing all the materials; each Applique, an art work of its own.

The love that is shared while sitting around the frame, day after day, stitch by stitch; creates a masterpiece of love and relationship. Working together, each with their own individual gift to the quilt process. Sharing their skills and experiences with each other that creates a collective expression; a slow endearing process that ends as a thing of great Beauty.

This same process of patient working together, seeing each person’s gift to the Whole can bring Beauty in all life’s journeys. President Obama’s Movement toward Restoration of America is similar to the Quilting process. Except this time there is a whole nation of Quilters
We must all patiently participate in this process of restoring so many broken pieces of our country and people. Like the Quilt, we are at the beginning: designing and gathering materials, cutting and piecing, pinning all pieces onto the Whole cloth.

Quick fixes are not going to help us restore our country. Nor is the intolerance to individual expression going to create Beauty in our process or our final outcome.

The Nation was recently reminded, that “Yes, We Can.” That election process indeed created Beauty in its outcome as millions of Americans joined together to restore Hope.

As with the making of the Quilt, we can’t stop participating in the process just because the first step was successful. It is now time to put our Quilt of Hope onto the frame, remembering, day after day, stitch by stitch; together we sew a New Nation of Hope that all are included and all have voice.
