  • At a corner of a house on my street, stands a fanciful tree in the corner that says hello when anyone walks by. He is always smiling and looking towards the house as if to tell us to walk lightly so as not to wake his masters, Al and Kathleen, who like to sleep late.

He stands guard over the garden, but alas, his cheery demeanor keeps him ineffective in keeping out the rabbits and deer who can be seen feasting on the tender lettuce shoots and bushes nearby. But never one to take a scolding to heart, he keeps on smiling and tells us, "have a nice day."
