  • This is one of my favorite pictures. It was taken in the hospital a few hours after I gave birth at 40 years old to my only child. After a three week wait with me passing the due date and a 48 hour labor ... plus further complication it all lead to a cesarian birth.

With the loving attendance of my friend and planned midwife I recovered away from our new child and my husband for a few hours. When this pictures was taken I had just spend an hour getting to know my baby and testing feeding her ... I was happy yet drained - we both knew my life and the child's had been at risk for the past 24 hours and now it was over and we felt safe in the ninth floor of the hospital with a winter blizzard howling outside. My husband Kirk was holding my arm and looking at my face colored a pall shade of green (from the drugs I had in my body still).

The connection we shared at this time still reminds me that I was in the right place with the right people to make a life with.

27 years later we are a family that has grown and will continue to grow more over the years.

We are all each others true first loves.
