My family has never been the kind to rush to the fair each year. Waste of time, waste of money, I've always been told. My brother held the same view with his two children. So they had never been before.
On a mad whim I whisked them away with me to the fair. The place sucked all my money away. I bought the children overpriced food, they spilled it, and I told them it was okay and bought them more. The prizes of the games weren't worth the chances we paid to win them, and we lost the battle with funnel cake finger stickiness for the rest of the night.
But oh, the stars in their eyes outshone the brightest lights of the fair. Nothing, nothing at all was wasted that night.
