  • We were on a training mission, and at this point, all we were waiting for was the bird to appear and drop its cargo. Paratroopers, vehicles, supplies, etc...we were ready to watch it drop out and hit the ground. We had been waiting for hours, it seemed, and we were tired.

Suddenly, we heard a dull roar, looked up and saw the jet burst through the clouds. I had my cheapo camera at the ready and took the picture just at the right moment. Not my best picture, but it holds a great memory for me. One moment, everyone was standing around grumbling about the mission, not knowing if it would be cancelled because of the weather, and the next, you see the bird. I caught them right when they looked up and saw it, emerging from the storm cloud.
