  • Where Fr. Roger went from Kenya, formerly East Africa Protectorate, I do not know. But I corresponded with him when he was living at St. Mary's Presbytery, Belfast.

Fr. Roger honored us once with a visit. He came with his cousin. They had driven up from New York.
He had walked the Brooklyn Bridge. (Estimates on how long it takes to walk it range from about half an hour to walk it fast, 45 minutes for a slower walk, and an hour at a relaxed pace.)

I did not have the Pork Chops recipe. Lunch was vegetarian.

I treasure the time he spent with us that day. How he joked as he stood on the patio, looking around, "You don't have any neighbours!"

My neighbours were mostly across the road. One, Mr. Dardani, lived next to us but beyond hailing distance. When I think of Fr. Roger, I see him laughing and I am laughing at his joke.
