  • I recently took my sons to see Shakespeare in the park. Instead of staying for the real show, we watched kids their age put on a parody of A Mid-Summer Nights Dream. We laughed so hard we distracted from the show.

Later we wandered over to the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art and played in the sculpture garden. My sons play fought in front of the shuttle cocks. I told them people in Kansas City hated the shuttle cocks when we first got them, but now we like them because they make us feel like we have shrunk. It is kind of like being in Alice in Wonderland.

Being the mother of my sons is kind of like being in Alice in Wonderland, too. Or like wandering around an idyllic sculpture garden at sunset on a crisp June night. I am so full of joy. I don't want to wake up some day and have to let them go.
