  • It had been a lovely day in the Doll's House. They had a fancy dress parade,a Princess parade and a ball.everyone had been invited, all the animals came dressed in costumes, there was even a tiger disguised as a Polar Bear.Nobody got left out,all invitations had been personally presented by Barby driving around in her pony and trap with Kenneth. They were both dressed up in their finest for the occasion
The trouble started, when one of the prettier dolls declared that she was the bestest and the most favourite of all the toys. This started a real riot, bits of furniture were being thrown around, one of the bigger toys was picking up and throwing some of the much smaller toys and animals against the walls. There was so much noise, you could not hear yourself think.
There was shouting and screaming, the toy soldiers were stamping their feet and banging their drums with out rhythm.Nobody was listening to any one else.So much was going on that no one noticed the owner of the Dolls house,Abigail, come into her bedroom .Abigail had to put her hands over her ears it was chaotic in there.
It took more than one sssh from Abigail to quieten them all down.Once it was quiet, she made them all sit down.Toy dolls animal, everybody sitting down quietly."Right " said Abigail"what is all the noise about",
.Suddenly they were all shouting again and no sense could be made of it.It took an almighty big SSSSHHH this time from Abigail before there was quiet again. She looked around and saw that some of them had their stuffing pulled out ,heads had been twisted, there was even an elephant without a trunk. The whole house and its occupants was a mess.
The only toys which didn't seem to have been involved were Barby and Kenneth, but their Pony and trap were lying on their side ,where someone had thrown them. She picked up Barby and Kenneth and left the room, sat down in the passage outside and asked them what had happened. They didn't answer as they both thought it would be unfair to everyone else if they told. So,Abigail thought for a long while ,then picked them up and went back into the room and put them back down with everyone else.
The toys started chattering again,so once again Abigail shushed them into silence."Now"she told them" I do not know what happened ,but nobody is any better than anyone else, everyone one of you is my favourite and I love you all".There was one particularly red face in the crowd of toys, but no one said anything. "So" continued Abigail " if anyone thinks they are better than anyone else, they do not belong in my bedroom or in the dolls house"."no one is going to be blamed and punished, this time because I love you all,but it must not happen again".
Just then Abigail's mother called her for tea."I want all this tidied up" she said " before I come back up to play, everything back to normal.
Abigail went down to tea.Whilst she was gone, the dolls that could sew sewed the damaged toys up after they had their stuffing put back in.The artist ran around doing all the make-up,soon everything was back as it should have been ,all the dresses were back in the wardrobes and cupboards, curtains straightened and carpets cleaned.Spick and span everywhere,it was a lot of hard work, and they were all very tired,it had been a long day.
When Abigail came back upstairs, all the toys were asleep except for the Elephant who was still trying to find his nose.
Abigail felt very sorry for him,so she hunted around until she found it and very carefully stitched it back on,neither of them noticed that the grey Elephant now had a pink trunk. But it served as a reminder to all the toys that they must never quarrel over silly things like who is bestest, ever again
