  • I longed for you
    A version of me
I once was so sure of
    Yet I wanted to forget
    But there was a wound
    That wouldn’t heal
And it ached slow and painful
    Was it a loss?
    I couldn’t be sure
    Perhaps it was the tenderness
    That had caused the wound
    Yes, there was sweetness
    To the fragility I felt
To break into a million pieces
So that you could jigsaw me back anew
So that I would be whole again
    As I shattered within
    I lost my confidence
I lost my sense of direction
I lost my way of being
    I guarded my vulnerability
With a new and shining wall
    But the wound
It just seethed and bubbled beneath
The pain rising through my soul
    A loss that was indefinable
Because nothing in the universe can be lost
    It was there somewhere
Hiding perhaps in the wound itself
Until I decided, it was time to heal.
    Brooding over the parts
    I didn't like, sulking over
    The losses within my heart
    It was an indulgence
    More than anything else
Now, is the time to forget the past
    To see with new eyes
A way ahead into the light.
