  • This picture is from a walk in Leavenworth WA last month ... it reminded me of 30 years ago living in "Der Town", when I worked in B/W only and printed my work in a shared darkroom in the basement of the Adventure Chalet. A log lodge building built in the late 1800's the Chalet was the center of a WA "community" of people outside of the village of Leavenworth in this amazing Mt. valley of the Cascades.

We have a fine name, we are called the Extended Family. I have written here on Cowbird of the home with Starks and the dancing, art, friendship, love and faith that grew deep root in that home.

Now in a time of digital photos and my focus on color to help with my art making painting - I do not make pictures b/w anymore. This one touched me - the light and dark the small bench waiting to offer the walker a rest and a view before moving on.

... One more day at my job for 7 hours tomorrow ... then I am off on annual leave time for two weeks. I go back on July 16th and I will push hard to help our parks save energy and save money. When parks run out of money it seems so wrong, that our State and our Country could not see that our parks are our souls.

But I hear on the news today - the Summit in Rio ended bad - locals from Brazilian forests that just want to save the water in their river that is life ... and the youth of the world some from Occupy and others that also work for justice ... they all walked out this week in anger when it was clear that the "fat cats" and evil corporations paid to own the event --- so we all lost.
