  • OK, this evening Pi Nan asked me to cycle over to his sisters small market to pick up some

Sugar, Eggs, coffee and drinking water.

    Easy enough.

I arrived and placed the order but was quickly pulled aside by one of the family members to join
in song and whiskey. Why not, right?
We all sat around a rickety table and they pour me a Leo beer on ice and I sat and listened to
this entire family take turns singing in Thai.
I was asked several times "what is your age" by one of the women. I think it was her only
    english phrase?

A young man, maybe 20 passed me a beat to shit, poorly tuned guitar. I politely passed. I mean
what the hell was I going to sing? I thought about RING OF FIRE by Johnny Cash. They could
all join in? But I needed about two more Leo on ice to work up that kind of courage. On older
woman passes me her glass of whiskey, I take a hit...Thai whiskey takes some getting used to.
I remembered I needed to get back with the supplies. So i purchased them another bottle of
whiskey and hit the trail back. They were very thankful!

    Thank-You, Thank-You, Thank-You

I arrive back to the farm with the sack full of eggs crushed.

    Not very mindful of me.

Ahhhh, I blame it on the Leo and song. It was well worth it.
