  • This is the first time I have made a painting of a doodle I drew whilst talking on the phone.

When I doodle it is as if I am in a dream state, allowing my pencil to create something; unassisted by my conscious brain.

I have represented the vision I experienced when my mother was dying of a ‘swirling, unending conduit of time containing the moment each daughter of my ancestors, kissed their dying mothers, in succession and enveloped me’ (from my poem Vision of my Mother Dying); by composing a poem; making a video with twelve friends acting as my ancestors; I have written a long story, and I still need to find other ways of expressing this experience.

I am still not happy with this painting. I will continue to find a better way to paint the time tunnel until I am satisfied I have captured the moment.
