  • Chuki nichukie moyo wangu uniachie - help me or don't help me, but leave my heart alone.

I went back to kanga shopping to get some more for friends as presents. I am now trying to photograph each kanga, write down the message and get a translation for it. I am also writing down who I gave each kanga to.

I am now virtually giving this kanga to all cantankerous women and men. It called out to me as the perfect answer to the previous kanga "it is difficult to help difficult people".

The picture motif in this kanga is unusual. There's no frills or extra decorations, the edges are just striped, and in the middle is repeated a picture of coconut with a house on top. There's not even any attempt to soften the message with prettiness.

The gentleman who sold it to me could not explain why coconut. Maybe it is the heart in the message - a bit of a tough shell to keep most people out.
