  • I met Monica yesterday at AsociaciĆ³n La Sala, an outreach here in San Jose that helps workers with basic necessities; showers, food and clinical visits. After i left there i met her and her boyfriend/pimp WahWah on the street and talked with them for a while. They both live a street level, drug addled existence and you can tell that over the years they have ran up a pretty heavy tab. They are also occasional painters and showed me a nearby mural they had done together in years past. Really good work and i only wish there were a more abundant supply of walls about for them to paint. WahWah was really into me taking his photograph and took me to a nearby stand his sister runs and gave me some bananas. My guide Rachel told me afterward that he got the name WahWah because he's known for being a pretty handy mugger and the name is indicative of the cries of his victims. At least that's what she said. I just wish i could just follow them both around for a month and document their life together. I wish that very much. And i keep asking myself why.
