  • The nautilus-shaped formation that one day 'appeared' in the forest about ten years ago has an inscription carved into the largest stone.

SHINE ANEW, STEP FORWARD . BIRDGIRL
AT ANY MOMENT, I CAN START ANEW,

I have photographed it in years past. But this year I've mostly walked by...mistakenly thinking that I 'know' it already.

It was the graffiti that attracted my attention initially. Not the stones.

Then, when I read the inscription again today, with a few added words, it took on new meaning for me.

SHINE ANEW, STEP FORWARD . (COW)BIRDGIRL(S) (AND BOYS)
AT ANY MOMENT, I (AND WE) CAN START ANEW,
