  • We went to the Peabody Natural History Museum at Harvard University in Boston to study their collection of indigenous items and sitting on the floor no less in a dark crowded with shelves hallway was this photo of Sitting Bull. In the frame is a bandana and the caption says "taken from him when he was shot". I picked it up off the floor and could not believe what i was seeing! It was a trophy of war and you start to wonder at the provenance of all these things and how they were acquired. Soldiers collected items and it starts to make you feel sick when you really think about how our ancestors died.
