  • We caught sight of this guy one day on our road home, looks like he's having a rough time of it. The Badlands National Park has set aside Conata Basin as a refuge to reintroduce Swift fox and Black Footed ferret. Their primary source of food are prairie dogs so the dogs are protected too and the neighboring ranchers are against this as dogs eat the grass and everything travels far and wide. The Swift fox was decimated by poison and trapping many years ago by the war on the wolf and the coyote and all of nature so it would seem. Black Footed ferrets were even thought to be extinct until one last colony was found in Wyoming.
