  • We had been dating long-distance for two years, before we decided that we really wanted to share a home and not live so far apart. So we bought a house together, my daughter and I moved 300 kilometers and that was it. We had both been married and divorced already and were adults, I in my thirties and he in his forties. Nobody was scandalised.

Six months later we were returning home from a long trip, and started chatting about our future and the things we wanted to do. At some point I said "I actually want us to get married". We talked about it a bit and agreed to do that. We bought the rings a bit later, got married the following summer in the magistrate, and threw a party to our friends the following day.

The picture has nothing to do with this, it was taken on our past Easter holiday. We said "awww" and took the picture, and then swept the flowers away. They were scratchy.
