  • Dawn. The sea’s salty tang scents the clear crisp air. Wafting aromas of hot tea and muffins baking in the oven compete with Neptune’s briny fragrance for olfactory dominance of the daily ritual.

Noon. The sun breaks through the clouds shining into the office window with an intense glare that signals the end of my morning writing. I am blinded by the light yet loath to draw the curtains on this bright bright bright sunshiny day. Dig the sun and the big blue robin egg cerulean sky as balmy sea-scented trade winds fill tree limbs rustling and sighing like a ship's sails billowing in the breeze.

Dusk. There are moments when memories crest like ocean waves
Bathing me in the salty seas of bittersweet remembrance
Like sunlight filtered through the water’s murky depths
Refracted shimmering flickering frames of faded film
Projected on the silver screen of time.
