  • The love for tangibles have grown over the years. If its pleasing to the eye, it has to be a part of the trendy collection as colors and variety make our wardrobe beautiful and ourselves debonair.

There was a time when I followed the same custom but watching a few documentaries on people invovled in making us look elegant made me question my attitude towards the plushness of this world.

Pakistan is a beautiul country full of diversity where locals are thriving with talents. Intricate embroidried kurtas, hand made stone studded accesories, shalwar kameez with beautiful prints, amazing color combinations, cut works and jamawaar followed up with traditional comfortable footware "Khusa" are all categorised as the goodwill of Pakistan.

It makes me feel proud picking up labels that mention "Made in Pakistan". Although recently I have my outlook challenged. No doubt people of Pakistan are creative and excel in their opted field, where some are God gifted, others are busy learning new skills hoping to find a promising venue to exhibit their talent. But on the down side its the conditions under which most of them work with little care and no safety bothers me big time. Spending hours under extreme temperatures with dangerous machinery, tools and equipments where most of them are invovled in fiddly work makes me wonder would they have still opted for this job if they had a better standard of living?

Where buying the end product makes me proud as it belongs to my country and the money spent by me will go back to my people, drapping it on or wearing them becomes hard as seeing the arduous work under long hours of scortching sun, with no precaution, God knows how many accdents invovled, their sweat and helplessness all makes me guilty. So much of torture with pay about half a dollar just to make me look pretty is difficult to digest.

Still keeping my hopes high, I want to believe that some day some propotion of my money if not all will be spend on the assests of our country rather than making it rest in bank accounts.
