  • The third largest forest fire in the history of Colorado is still raging, getting ever closer to homes. Yesterday, it just jumped the Poudre River. It was sparked by lighting, fueled by the remnants of a very dry winter.

This morning, I went online and saw that CNN had an update, followed by "comments". I was sad to see that many people were making jokes and saying insulting things about this tragedy.

There was prejudice, political grandstanding, lack of compassion for people losing their homes, and pure unadulterated ignorance about nature and its incredible force.

It made me weep for my fellow Americans, but not hate them.

Otherwise, I would be just like them.
