  • There has to be reason to want to write,My working life consisted,in the main,of writing on electronics>That is,although you have to have the knowledge yourself, you are putting on paper the ideas of a designer, inventor or company in written form for others to understand,Several formats included maintenance or user manual, even in some cases for use in constructing.Always written to laid down rules.
I did a short stretch as a Technical Journalist on various Electronic magazines at about the time that Amstrad were starting up (one of the items I covered).Again it was to a given set of rules.I ,well remember the day being called into the editor, who had no technical knowledge of any subject, about using the phrase " I feel".That he said is total rubbish, you are a journalist, you do not feel.Humbled I rewrote the piece.
I have never had to worry about dotting i's or t's,or even spelling, always done be very efficient young ladies. The drawing was always a problem, even after attending multiple art classes, you see the result of my scribbles on each of my pieces, still scribbles not art ,I fear.
The only writing apart from a few gardening or craft articles I wrote, after I retired, were little giggly stories for little groups of children, which seemed to have been enjoyed.
    This brings me to "Cowbird".
I write as I dream, sounds very simplistic.I awake,at least I feel awake and a thought is buzzing in my head,it may have been something I read or just a passing thought, even a past experience I had that has returned.
Whatever it is,it feels me with a need to put it down on paper ,to share the dream.I do not write rationally, probably guess that from the haphazard writing, but write as I see, from the heart as the saying goes.I hope, not for multiple readers but just someone to enjoy my little meanderings.
For those of you who possibly think,I have a huge brain power, let me give you a true story.
I was offered a contract to work in a team of a company producing electronic medical apparatus. This probably came about as someone read my resume which said i apprenticed with Mullards(a name lost in time)but who led the field in component manufacture.
I joined the company, shook hands with the manager, noticed he was wearing gloves, and was introduced to the design team, all one of him.I have to stress I am not No 1 in any team, rather an ideas type.He did the work,I did the research, completed the job,got very well paid and had another handshake from the manager.
In case Clem reads this,I loved tinkering, much better before semi-conductors though.
    Happy dreaming.....happy writing
I am crap with rules as well.
