  • I met Amanda today on Gaston Avenue. She was going to the dollar store to buy toothpicks to make crosses out of. Two hours later i photographed her at her ex-neighbors house, who she is now staying with after a recent eviction. She didn't tell me too much of her story other than that she came here from Thailand about 30 years ago. She told me a few other things too. After i photographed her, she pulled out a lot of her drawings and paintings and told me that she often draws people and then meets them days, months or years later. Power of intention stuff. She had never drawn anyone who looked like me so i guess it doesn't work every time.

Then she pulled out a book called A Course In Miracles and told me that there were questions in each of our lives that we are looking for answers to and asked me to pick a page. Maybe on that page would be a word ot two or maybe even a neon sign. I did and was pretty happy when the first sentence addressed and acknowledged my question and situation. Some people call that seeing what you want to see, coincidence or whatever but i have experienced it in the past and understand that we are all being guided and served by life. She believes that too.

As i was leaving she said that she thinks she is here to meet people and help them see and learn things that they need to see and learn. After that is finished, she goes some place new and she said the rootlessness is the only downside. As i left i told her i would call and check on her some time but she said that she would most likely have a different number and live in different city by then. As we like it, so it is.
