  • We are all holographic fractals and so is the Uni-verse, as above, so below. We are one song. One of the most stunning art exhibits I've ever seen was a holographic show at the Art Institute of Chicago, back in the 80's. I was particularly struck by a piece that was an old wooden window frame with chips and paint peeling off of the wood. One of the panes of glass was broken into pieces that were arranged on the floor in front of the window. In each pane of the window was a complete picture of the window and it's broken pieces and the same overall picture was in each one of the broken pieces with it becoming less distinct as the pieces became smaller. The whole picture was contained in each of the pieces as we contain all of the universe within us at a smaller scale. We are contained within the Uni-verse, and the Uni-verse is contained within us.

As you have probably noticed, I make fractal art and am a big fan of the Theory of Chaos, so let me recommend an excellent and helpful book, Seven Life Lessons of Chaos: Spiritual Wisdom From the Science of Change by Briggs and Peat, (thank you, Jo-Anne for recommending it) which goes into the butterfly effect, etc. We are in chaos and appear to be on an out of control roller coaster going faster and faster, and it's up to us to each put on the brakes in a cooperative effort, living more simply, sharing what we have, helping others, being in circles and community.

The Occupy movement is a wonderful example of the butterfly effect. We must stay in love, holding the resonance as we move through the changing chaos that is upon us. It's been here for quite some time, we have just been ignoring it and shoving it under the rug, along with all our personal sh*t that we don't want to deal with, like do I really need a new gidget when I can repair the one I have or I can do something different that is less damaging to the Earth. Let's change that personal sh*t to big SHIFT.

We need diversity, it is built into Nature, it is not uniform and will not be controlled by us, and we are a diversity that may be weeded out, if we don't stop trying to weed out the diversity that doesn't fit our model of neatness. Nature is very messy, it is fractal chaos, that is its nature of optimal wellness. Well kept lawns with all the same grass growing neatly is not normal and a waste of space, put a garden in, let a diversity of friendly weeds and herbs grow there. Dandelions are great to eat and have healing qualities, why are we spraying them? Let nature be nature and let us return to our natural nature of being. Now, how do we dance this new dance of forward, backwards, sideways, twirling, twisting and leaping? We simply begin again and again and again.

Suggested EarthPlay, formerly known as HomeWork: Throw stones in the water and watch them rippling out and overlapping each other going endlessly out to the universe.

The photo was taken at Teotihuacan in Mexico and is a mural of the Quetzal Bird singing. The curlicue coming out of his mouth represents songs.
