There oughta be a BRAVO! button because sometimes that LOVE button just does not convey the response elicited in me by someone's writing. I have no problem if a story does nothing for me. I move quietly on. But when the words or the tale or the telling of it strike a chord in me and I laugh or cry or wish I had written something so true, so funny, so sublime... Then I am compelled to applaud... To cheer.... To wipe the cathartic tears of empathy from my eyes and say, "Homerun! You hit that one out of the park, man!" Ray's piece about his turn in the big time sparkles with wit and humility and a genuine love of life few writers are able to convey. I was reminded of similar works by other writers I admire. I laughed. I wept. I wish I had written something with this kind of soul. I tend to be a lazy writer. The Cowbird thing, this virtual community of storytellers freed from the constraints imposed by the workshop nature of too many writer's groups, energizes me. The creative stimulation of reading simple tales of living truthfully told is a priceless inspiration. BRAVO!
