I love mornings. There are many different reasons. Here's just one. If you get up early enough, which we do every day now, you can see the sun coming up above the mountains and our beautiful house basked in a golden light; most of the house that is, except for your bedroom which is shielded from the East, protecting your sleep.

I can hear you any time you wake up. It is something I cannot explain. It feels like someone flips a switch inside of me when you awake. No matter how tired I am, how much I slept or didn't sleep, I can hear you instantly. Every morning is different, of course, but certain things are always the same. Every time I peek into your room in the morning, you smile at me and I smile at you. That never changes. Typically, you want to share something from your crib with me right away, you want to give something, that is your first thought of the day. I love that about you. Sometimes it's many things and before long I stand there as a pile of blankets and cuddly toys. Then you turn into a Koala bear and I turn into a eucalyptus tree. You stretch out your arms, I throw you into the air for a good measure (you laugh like mad) and then you land on your tree branch. You plant yourself onto me like we've never been apart from the beginning of time. But you don't really think about that. You study your tree for a while, amused by it's stubble and gigantic nose that's very grabbable. You also know that your tree has a wonderful quality: it can move around. So you turn into a Koala captain, and point your finger forward: "there, let's go there." And we go there.

We open the blinds as you want to see the birds outside. I try to teach you how to chirp and you make gurgling sounds. It's really funny. Then we feed the fish. I think you want the fishes to come out of the water and hang out with you, because you call them loudly and bang on the fish tank. We do other things here and there, like picking out your clothes and saying hello to Kiwi, but inevitably we end up in Mom&Dad's bedroom where Mom is getting ready for work. We always try to sneak up on her and you get quiet and hold your breath. Koala bear enters like a Ninja. We crack the door open and stick one eye in. And then you and Mom light up. That is also something that never changes.

    Yeah, I love mornings.
