  • Two weeks and one day ago, this corner was green too. But it was a different kind of green, a composite of many shades of green and brown. A community of ruderal species, pioneer plants claiming back a construction site. A weed patch, in unflattering terms.

    Two weeks ago, this same corner was green also, but yet another kind of green. Somebody must have taken enough offense by the pioneers to fund the application of a thick layer of chewing gum-green colored herbicide.

    Today, the green is lush and monotone. Quite crippled in terms of biodiversity, but soft like a Persian carpet. An invitation to the Urbanite to stop, step out and stretch.
    Except that nobody ever pauses to take a rest in this triangle flanked by heavily frequented roads and a parking lot.
