  • To find something for us to do at times has been a challenge. Add life's schedule and we have gotten a bit behind. The main reason was one of the next goals was to do some sort of recycling leap which has been tough to find for all six of us. But that is what the kids picked and so we worked together to try to find something. We thought of cleaning a park, or a road, or bring recycling from our neighborhood and touring a recycling plant. Sadly nothing turned up because of age restrictions, timing or lack of response. Right when we were getting frustrated we got a call that changed all of that. AMVets ( called asking for any gently used items and it all made sense. We talked as a family and we decided this was it.

This was our chance to go through our stuff and help a great organization. Get rid of some of the things that others could use that we were not. AND we could teach the kids about a great organization. So off we went to our corners of the house and collected what we felt was worthy.

The best part was we let the kids decide what to choose of their own. It was their assessment. Their action. Their stuff. It was their thoughts we wanted to encourage.

So, did they understand they were helping or were they just happy to get rid of stuff? That as a family in a small way we were making a difference?

    We shall see.
