  • Last night or early this morning I had a vivid and complete dream...

    First, a bit of context. In a previous Cowbird story I wrote about how I actually see recycling not only as ineffective but also as dangerous. It does not solve problems. In fact, it CREATES new problems. (Read passion in the caps!) It treats symptoms rather than cause. Addressing 'cause' would be resolving 'upstream' issues like why use disposable plastic packaging in the first place? And it assuages our guilt and leads us into an illusion that was are doing something of benefit. That's my view...just for starters.

    So...back to my dream. I was in the presence of someone who was lauding the great benefits of recycling. I put forth some of my ideas. Then I said that I had written a story on Cowbird about this very subject.

    "It's called Recycling Revisited," I said. "I'd be happy to give you the link. What you might find especially of interest is the image of the dead baby Albatross. The parent birds are feeding their babies bright shiny objects like bottle caps, lighters, and other bits of plastics that they see as fly over The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The Patch is a result of recycling and, thus, so are thousands of dead baby Albatross."

    So that was the dream. And, so far, this story appears to be about recycling, right? Well, I would not have shared this dream at all...given I have written my thoughts on this subject....except for what happened next.

    I remembered the dream when I woke up. And I pondered it as I made myself a cup of coffee. Then, when I opened my email, I found an email from another Cowbird author who has created a compendium of his favorite Cowbird stories.

    I was honored to see that he chose one of my stories for his compendium. And, out of all the many stories I have written over the last few months, the one he chose? You guessed it. Recycling Revisited!

    ~~~~~~
    We are up to something Big here. It includes but goes beyond writing and sharing our individual stories and reading and loving each others' stories. There is a Collective Story that we are also 'writing' and 'reading.'
    Synchronicity 1 was also a dream that I had during the night before I found it in a Cowbird story the next morning. And as I wrote in Synchronicity 11, this kind of shared 'field reality' is happening too often NOT to notice. For me, at least. So I continue to add new instances to my growing list!
    Of course, this connectedness is always true in life. In theory, we KNOW we are all connected. But what I find profound is how, because of this platform, it is becoming so common and apparent! I suspect that these experiences are clues to the TRUE natural order of things. The rest, the illusion in which we live most of our lives, just might be the aberration.
    Like a trail breadcrumbs in a fairytale forest, these everyday experiences of synchronicity give us a pathway Home...
