  • I had a shower today, hoping the soothing water would inspire me to start my story with an interesting phrase.

    Ah, I have the words, I thought, and started to write on my laptop:

    'She was a nameless entity hovering between reality and infinite space, she sat breathing rhythmically, gradually evolving from feeling numb and unwanted; to the peace of her meditation.

    She would stay in this state until he returned. She only felt alive in his presence when, full of warmth and fun; he talked about his day and the amazing things he had seen; and what he dreamt of achieving....'

    And then I smelt the potatoes burning.
