  • I have often wondered why Cowbirders do not seem to favour the flash-fiction genre (50 word not counting the title). So I had to make one for myself:

    Of Mice and Ghosts.

    After my boyfriend had a mouse up his trousers he kept waking up in a panic at night. When he caught one, he threw it in the fire.
    Next, he began seeing flaming rodents scampering across his bedroom.
    One morning coming in, I was greeted by a pile of ashes.
