  • It was only a suggestion. I was serious though.

    "Shall we get rid of our TV's. Just for a year?"

    The return look I got was one of incomprehension. As if I'd spoken in tongues.

    We are very careful of the programming our little boy gets to see, but sometimes I will watch him and wonder just how affected, how 'programmed' he is.

    At two and a half this is total immersion. There is little difference between our world and the one that occurs in the little frame in the corner of the room.

    When we go out to play there is movement, shouting, laughter, excitement, experimentation and learning.

    With the TV I am not sure what there is. Absorption... and occasionally a little smile.
