  • When my children grew up and left home I missed the fun I had during their childhood. I missed the excuse of getting messy with clay and paint. I missed going to the sea shore every and experiencing wild windy seascapes and calm blue sun baked sand in the summer.

I miss collecting them from school and chatting with other parents, and inviting other children round to our house. I miss chanting nursery rhymes and making up silly stories.

But now that I have grandchildren I can do it all again. I can see the wonder of the world through their eyes and feel proud of all their achievements.

My eldest grandson, Cal, won the spelling bee at his school, in Enniskillen; then he went on the Fermanagh County contest and won that! He received fifty pounds prize money and a book token.

We are all looking forward to the Regional contest which will be broadcast on the local radio. There is so much to look forward to now.
