  • Old Mother Hubbard
    went to market, to market,
to fetch a pail of water.
    Along came a spider,
    who had a great fall
and landed on top of her daughter.

    All the King's men,
    they huffed and they puffed
but sadly the daughter was dead.
    The little dog laughed
    to see such sport
so the Queen declared "Off With His Head!"

The butcher, the baker, the candlestick-maker,
they struggled to work it all out.
So they sat down beside her
    and drank plenty of cider.
And the spider? He climbed up the spout.

    The moral, my friends,
    as this ditty ends,
is lavish your children with love.
    If you leave them alone
    to fetch water for home,
make sure they look out for what's above.
