  • I went today to a most hopeful of places

The security was intense, and oh so serious. I had to laugh, to myself, a little - at all the rigmarole. Shoes off, yep. Belt, yep. Phone turned off? Good, walk thru here.

And then you all get ushered through to the interview area, once stripped of any small device that could possibly cause a ruckus (or god-forbid - a security risk!!)... along with a small amount of dignity.

Such a fascinating place - a window into the most private of stories.
'Can you please explain this sir?
...No, I'm sorry sir, there is no waiver for this kind of crime...
    Your visa has been denied.'

And like that, hopes and plans crushed to insignificance. non-existence. in-potentiality.

And then I walk up. 'Why do you want to travel to the ... ma'am?' Holidaying sir, and then back home to keep studying. 'Ok sure, how long?' Four months sir, visiting friends, volunteering.

'Ok, very well. Your visa will be posted back this week ma'am'.

    So easy. Painless.

So easy to not realise how easy your life is; how easy your choices are... Until you see someone else's taken away from them.
