  • I am lucky enough to work with a great group of people. All animal lovers of an extreme nature. I like to have at least one or two dogs in my office to give them a break from shelter life. It's not actually an office but a shed converted into an office with a couple of desks and a place to do whatever needs to be done to the dogs. It usually smells and is either freezing in the winter time or blistering hot in the summer. There are only a few months of the year that I'm actually comfortable sitting in there (good thing I don't usually have time to sit). Today was a blistering hot day but I was lucky enough to have a beautiful dog with me all day. Cosmo is a victim of the black dog syndrome. Cosmo, an amazing dog who came into our shelter as a stray, has sat there for months because he is black. If he was white or small or furry he would have been adopted in a week. Alas, Cosmo sits and waits and in the meantime brings joy and happiness to the staff and volunteers at the shelter. Today he brought happiness to my co-worker Angela. He curled up at her feet under her desk for part of the day.
