  • E. found this photo on the sidewalk outside a “Skiladiko” (decadent Greek night club) in downtown Athens and gave it to me.
    I had it pinned on my wall all those years I was living in this city. Every time I took a glance at this couple, it filled my heart with an awkward mixed feeling: of light and gloominess.
    I still can never tell which came first, but I could differenciate between those two:
    When I identified myself to the guy in the red suit; from behind, I saw only the sadness of this young woman probably attached to this older guy for a night or less.
    When I looked through the lens of the photographer I could see in her hug true love.
    But today, I don't know why, I only see in both their gazes an ephemeral deep Joy ...
