  • A newborn is an amazing thing. She is our first, and is the most beautiful creature I've ever seen. The only things she knows how to do are eat, poop/pee, spit up, and scream her head off. She doesn't even know how to put herself to sleep. I never knew how helpless they were until I had one of my own.

She is 2 weeks old here. That means I hadn't had a full night's sleep in 2 weeks. Sleep deprivation is a funny thing - you look like yourself, but your brain isn't fully there anymore. You feel like a zombie, watching life go by. As of this writing, she's a month old. That means I haven't had a full night's sleep in a month. This is the most exhausting thing I've ever put myself through, and my wife has it much worse than I do.

But what can you do? I love her with all of my heart, and would do anything for her. It's a scary world out there, and somehow we have to figure out how to introduce her to it. Luckily, that comes later. Right now I just have to try to nap whenever I can.
