  • Travelling far from home can be a curse at times. So much to see and do that you can’t slow down in case something is missed. I liked the meaning behind cowbird. Travel is the bird (fast and free), always heading off to new experiences, rain can be the cow (slow and steady), forcing me to stop and reflect and rest (as I get older I seem to need this more) and write. In rainy Vancouver it is too wet to attempt the parks, or the famous (now slippery) suspension bridge. It is too wet to wander along the sea wall, or to go whale watching, it is too much of a public holiday to attempt the aquarium to see the beluga. So I am forced to stop and rest and write. Rain forces the cow.
