  • Yesterday was a glorious, cloudless but windy day.

    I found myself watching this gull for many minutes, maybe even half an hour, the time is irrelevant really.

    I watched as she, I chose to distinguish her as a she, weaved her way through the sky. She was not hurried, she had an end in her sights and as she got moved off course by the wind, she rode it out. Occasionally she was blown close to buildings, and at the last moment steered herself away. She fascinated me.

    Eventually, in a graceful circling pattern she made her way to the ground, into the weeds and boggy ground which contained her lunch.

    What we can learn is this. Life blows us off course, sometimes a long way off, we may have to circle a few times and avoid the obstacles, even at the last moment. It may take time, and it will take effort. But we will land, because only with the journey, will we reach our destination.
