Sunset
Twilight
The little girl looked to the sky and wished that she could fly and touch the moon
Wide eyes
Wondering
She stretched her arms up to the light and all she knew was this and mom's perfume
The years go by, she's older now, and her eyes, grow colder now
As she walks the path to finding her own truth
She's grown confined to others ways, it defines the mess she's made
As she wanders through a life that's lost its hue
But she's got dreams and she's got plans, a thousand wishes in her hands,
Yet lacks the courage to know just what to do
And though she prays to God each day, asking why he took her Mom away
She remembers back to flying to the moon
If only flying was easy.
New friends
Late nights
She paved her way and saved each dime, to be the daughter that her mother knew
Thin lips
Smiling
Her shoulders back and head high, determined to begin her life anew
She starts off slow, still weighted down, comes to know herself a bit better now
As she lives a life of colors unsubdued
She finds the joy in little things, finds a boy that makes her wanna sing
As she maps a future long been overdue
'Cause she's got dreams and she's got plans, a thousand wishes in her hands
And looks for strength to know just what to do
And though she prays to God each day, asking why he took her Mom away
She remembers back to flying to the moon
If only flying was easy.
Well the days went by, the lights came on
She studied hard and rocked them all
She rose above her whispered doubts, to show the world what she's about
And on crumpled nights of memory lane, crying out she heard her Momma say
"You've got dreams and you've got plans, a thousand wishes in your hands
And I believe in everything you do
And when you pray to God each day, know I love you in every way
And remember back to flying to the moon
Because you make flying look easy."
