  • Tickets for the exhibition are like gold dust, but my son Hakim is a member of The Friends of the Tate or some such like association. So, when we were both in London a few days ago, he invited me as his guest, even if he didn't have his membership card with him. We went o the desk at the Tate, and he explained. Not a problem, they said, they would issue him with with a temporary one-day membership, but he would need to prove his identity. We will ask you two or three questions first. Right, what's your date of birth? He told them. They nodded and came up with: "What's the middle name of your father?". An easy one, my son said, as I knew you'd ask, I brought him along so you can ask him yourself.

    P.S. The exhibition was stunning.
