  • Remember scanning the audience to see if your mom and dad came to your school play? The gym was filled. Every seat. Parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, all with cheery faces, watching and taping the little guys sing their songs. The theme was multi-culturalism. My grandson's class sang "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" to represent Africa. It made me smile remembering how I represented multi-culturalism in my school back in the days when the neighborhoods of Boston were ethnically homogenous. I spoke Italian.
