  • My lover, my man, my boo. He is a keeper. He is also the first serious relationship I have had with a non-musician.

I won't lie, it's refreshing to not have to say "No babe, King Crimson is not love-making music." No one has made me listen to Yes or Mahavishnu Orchestra or anyone making innovative new sounds with a saxophone.

I told one of the boyfriends on this sunny day when we were biking around Seattle and the sun was shining and I probably wasn't wearing a helmet, I said "I love you!" And he replied "I understand now what Jimi Hendrix was feeling with that guitar line in Little Wing" (pregnant pause)

All the boyfriends have cited Pink Floyd as a "major influence" to their music. Seventh Grade Boyfriend, even (/especially?) he loved Pink Floyd. He and his friends had a metal band. They all cited Pink Floyd as "formative" to their music.

My main man, my lover, my boo bear. A couple days after we met we were in a car together and sure enough someone popped in Dark Side of the Moon. I braced for it, ready to debate my controversial theory that "The Great Gig in the Sky" is not about a woman having an orgasm.

"Who is this?" He asked. All heads turned. "Pink Floyd..." "Oh, what song are they famous for again?" innocently oblivious. I wanted to marry him right then and there.
