The world news is particularly grim this holiday season. Is it worse than any other year? Or is it just the gleeful reporting of the horrible events on the nightly news? I am reminded that I don't watch the nightly news as a rule, and tonight saw the reason why.

I've tried to remain silent on the travesty that has occurred in our own political scene. There is nothing I could say that hasn't been said by others, and probably better.

I can only remember that my grandfather used to say the world was going to hell in a handbasket in his time. We've lived through the "would be kings" more than once in my lifetime, and seems are destined to do it again.

This too shall pass.
